Job Description:
The Imaging Scheduling Coordinator provides total scheduling support for internal and external referring offices. Manage the registration of patients by telephone. Obtains patient insurance and demographic information, schedules new and return scan appointments. Imaging scheduling coordinator handles these functions for both Tennessee Oncology patients as well as Non-Tennessee Oncology patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Answers the telephones in a courteous, efficient manner.
- Follows policies and procedures outlined by management to ensure standardization of processes across all imaging centers.
- Routes messages to appropriate discipline.
- Conducts patient registration and scheduling process.
- Obtains pre-patient registration, demographic and insurance information and enters appropriately into the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Registers new patients in the Radiology Information System (RIS) ensuring all information is complete prior to scheduling.
- Providers patient information to coverage and benefits to create accounts in Patient Management System (PMS) and verify patient benefits.
- Schedules patient imaging tests following proper procedures.
- Receives and replies to all instant messages related to patients changes of insurance, copay questions, and coverage issues in a timely fashion.
- Designates in the Radiology Information System (RIS), and emails to appropriate persons study billing requirements, (i.e., Q-1 Modifier, KX Modifier).
- Responds promptly to patient, physician, and clinical requests.
- Communicates to other staff members using instant messaging system.
- Ability to travel/float to other imaging centers for business needs.
- Maintain and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Adheres to all Tennessee Oncology policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent with GED.
- 2 years of previous professional office experience and/or customer service experience preferred.
- Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
