Job Description
Position Summary:
This position will have direct responsibility within the supply chain function to drive sustainability and growth within Crane’s growing cryogenic business. The position is accountable to assuring the purchasing and planning of component availability is being completed to support customer service goals, minimize the total landed cost of material and optimize the company’s production efficiency resulting in improved business cash flows and increased customer satisfaction through on time delivery. This position shall also oversee tactical production planning and line balancing to ensure outstanding levels of on time delivery.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
Buying/Purchasing/Inventory
- Evaluates and acts upon the MRP requirements and Kanban levels for assigned commodities. Generates and adjusts purchase orders and/or shop work orders to support production schedules. Effectively communicates areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals and/or suppliers. Inputs, maintains, and adjusts records or transactions to ensure system validity.
- Conducts Inventory audits
- Collaborated with Project Management Inside Sales & Value Stream Managers and Supervisor and Supply Chain Specialists to meet the needs of inventory controls, scheduling the cells, and available laborers.
- Effectively manages work for Subcontractors to level load work at the site and communicates forecasted requirements to external suppliers
- Objectively measures and communicates supplier performance to support supply chain continuous improvement efforts. Interfaces with Suppliers, Quality, Strategic Sourcing, and Engineering to quickly resolve quality, delivery or cost issues. Maintains department Visual Boards and 5S.
- Drives increased inventory turns, reduced cycle times, and improved Customer OTD by developing, implementing and managing pull-based material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanban cards, vendor managed inventory and supplier consignments.
- Ensures quick resolution of shipping discrepancies, receiving errors, and invoice errors, and authorizes all inventory adjustments. Coordinates adjustments to ship dates or quantities on open purchase orders as necessary.
- Works to eliminate excess and obsolete parts and rationalize similar parts.
Planning
- Schedules day-to-day shop floor activities by releasing work orders based on material and capacity constraints, escalates issues as required.
- Coordinates and effectively communicates daily priorities necessary to achieve satisfactory delivery and shipment execution.
- Performs capacity planning for long term mid-term planning 3-month horizon to ensure satisfactory delivery and shipment performance.
- Ensure timely maintenance of MRP / ERP planning settings, including, but not limited to work cell queue times and work cell capacity levels.
- Effectively links final assembly/fabrication schedule to internal feeder work cells to ensure material availability of required products to support targeted level schedule.
Continuous Improvement
- Routinely enhances processes and effectively documents and communicates changes.
- Work closely with the Value Stream, Commodity Management, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to proactively identify, prioritize and complete resourcing and supplier development projects.
- Support resourcing and out-sourcing projects by proactively planning materials to ensure uninterrupted flow of product to customers as required.
- Provide effective support to new product introduction teams, proposal development and subcontracting opportunities as they develop.
- Consistent with Crane’s Operational Excellence focus, participates in Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Growth) throughout the Supply Chain. Must be capable of leading continuous improvement events and initiatives.
- Maintains a spirit of cooperation throughout the supply chain to insure responsiveness to the customer.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
- Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions. IIncludes a strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software. SmartSheets experimence considered a plus.
- Past internship experience working within an ERP preferred (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QAD, etc).
- Strong in Microsoft office suite software (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, MS project, etc.). Microsoft PowerPlatfom a plus (PowerBI, PowerApps, PowerAutomate)
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.
- BS/BA in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Distribution, or Supply Chain Management with 3.0GPA or higher
- Familiarity with lean concepts considered a plus.
