Job Description Summary:
POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking to hire an experienced investor to expand the business for Cambridge Associates from a recently established office in Hong Kong. The individual will become responsible for the investment success of clients served out of the office and the commercial growth of institutional and private client business.
CA has been working with clients across the Asia Pacific region since 2001 and serves a variety of institutions and family offices. Client portfolios range in size from $100 million to >$10 billion. Client mandates include total portfolio and asset specific mandates (private assets and hedge funds) in both discretionary and advisory capacities.

The Investment Managing Director would be a senior position within Cambridge Associates’ growing APAC regional team with a focus on managing and expanding institutional and private client business in Hong Kong.
The Managing Director would be responsible for leading and co-leading client relationships (both discretionary and non-discretionary) interacting directly with key decision makers (family members, Board or IC members, Family Office or Investment Office staff), driving investment strategy, asset allocation structures, investment manager structures and guidelines, investment manager selection and evaluation, and performance monitoring. The Managing Director is also responsible for the management and development of the supporting investment team.
In addition to their work with existing clients, the Investment Managing Director would partner with Global Client Solutions, Practice and Regional leadership teams to pursue new client relationships. Responsibilities regarding new business development include building referral networks through strong work with existing clients and related outside advisors, partnering with business development professionals to qualify prospective clients, building presentation materials and leading presentations alongside team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Lead and Relationship Management
- Lead teams in creating and developing diversified portfolios to meet customized client objectives
- Lead teams that select and evaluate investment managers for all asset classes
- Conduct analyses, prepare materials and direct clients on investment and financial issues.
- Develop and implement investment objectives, policies, and asset allocations for complex structures
- Serve as the key relationship manager for clients; serve as the executive lead at client, prospect and manager meetings
- Build Cambridge Associates network with key influencers across the private client and institutional investor marketplace in Hong Kong
- Represent Cambridge Associates externally through marketing presentations, conferences and other business development opportunities
Team Management
- Mentor, coach and develop talent at all levels on the team
Strategic Planning and Business Building
- Build Cambridge Associates network with key influencers across the private client and institutional investor marketplace in Hong Kong
- Lead strategic planning for the business in conjunction with Regional and Practice leadership
- Work with leadership and marketing groups to shape and grow Cambridge Associates brand
- Represent Cambridge Associates externally through marketing presentations, conferences and other business development opportunities
- Develop pipeline of institutional and family clients; cultivate and close business
Candidate Profile Sought:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- An advanced degree or professional qualification (MBA, CFA, or equivalent) is highly preferred
Experience:
- 10-15 years of experience in investment management, with a proven track record of investment and client success.
- Experience managing multi-asset portfolios is highly preferred.
- Experience with alternatives (hedge funds and private assets) preferred
Skills:
- Deep investment acumen and capital markets experience

- Having experience with alternatives (hedge funds and private assets) is preferred
- Having experience in evaluating sustainability and impact in investments is desirable but not essential
- Licensing: Must hold Type 1 (dealing in securities) and Type 4 (advising on securities) licenses under the Hong Kong SFC. Holding a Type 9 license (conduct asset management) would be preferred.
- Languages: Fluency in English required; proficiency Mandarin highly preferred.
