Equipment Technician
The Opportunity
UHP is seeking an experienced Equipment Technician to support and maintain a diverse fleet of vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, utility vehicles, and campus machinery critical to daily operations and construction efforts.
This role is responsible for preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair work, and equipment reliability across a wide range of diesel-powered and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-sufficient, mechanically strong, and comfortable operating in both shop and field environments.
Equipment supported may include:
Construction equipment (excavators, dozers, rollers, skid steers, etc.)
Vocational trucks (dump trucks, water trucks, fire trucks, etc.)
Diesel vehicles and buses
Utility vehicles and UTVs
Small engine equipment (mowers, chainsaws, etc.)
Diesel generators
Key Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance & Service
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment
Conduct oil, filter, fluid, and routine service work
Maintain service schedules based on mileage and equipment hours
Inspect equipment and identify potential issues before failures occur
Diagnostics & Repair
Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Troubleshoot emissions systems, including DEF and after-treatment systems
Repair heavy equipment systems, drivetrains, and utility equipment
Perform repairs on diesel vehicles, small engines, and support equipment
Welding & Fabrication
Perform welding and fabrication work as needed
Repair structural components, mounts, brackets, and equipment attachments
Modify or reinforce equipment for operational requirements
Fleet Operations & Reliability
Maintain high equipment availability and minimize downtime
Track and maintain campus fuel depot operations
Prioritize repairs based on operational needs
Coordinate larger repairs with outside service providers when necessary
Inspect equipment prior to purchase
Generator Maintenance
Service and troubleshoot diesel backup generators
Conduct routine testing and ensure operational readiness
Documentation & Safety
Maintain maintenance records and work orders
Track service intervals and equipment hours
Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
Follow all safety procedures and ensure repaired equipment meets operational standards
Train staff operators on proper and safe equipment use
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in heavy equipment, diesel, or fleet repair
Experience working with diesel engines and hydraulic systems
Experience troubleshooting electrical and emissions systems
Ability to perform welding and fabrication repairs
Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues independently
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
Military equipment maintenance experience
Heavy equipment dealership or contractor fleet experience
Diesel or heavy equipment repair certifications
Generator maintenance experience
Experience supporting emergency or vocational vehicles
Advanced welding and fabrication experience
Schedule & Environment
Schedule: Typically Monday–Friday; flexibility is required based on campus operational needs, including varying shifts, occasional weekends, and support needs across our 800+ acre campus environment.
Work Environment: Fully onsite at our campus located at 25200 Ranch Road, Gentry, AR 72734 in a fast-paced, collaborative kitchen environmentSchedule: Full-time onsite role in Gentry, Arkansas
