Job Description

This position provides complex evidence-based nutrition care according to professional scope and standards with minimal support. Supports the organization in fulfilling the mission, vision, and values of Logan Health.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in foods and nutrition required.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) required.
  • Licensed by Montana State Board of Medical Examiners to function as a Nutritionist required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal support required.
  • RQI Responder within 7 days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first, required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in health care setting preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Applies the nutrition care process with minimal support to deliver safe, evidence-based care and education inclusive of general, complex, and novel scenarios. Ensures documentation aligns with scope of practice, regulatory standards, and Logan Health policies.
  • Communicates with interdisciplinary care team members and advocates for evidence-based interventions with minimal support.
  • Screens, accesses, identifies nutrition diagnosis, and provides nutrition intervention. Performs patient and family education, monitors and evaluates individuals.
  • Trains interns and new RDs per department protocol.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary rounds, coordinates staff nutrition education/research updates, and assists department in staying abreast of nutrition standards of care and competencies.
  • Exhibits a commitment to professionalism while undertaking all tasks and in all interactions with others.
  • Effectively utilizes electronic health records (EHR) and clearly documents nutrition interventions, outcomes, and plan of care in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of best practices within assigned clinical practice area.
  • Independently assists in assigned organizational and community events and projects that support clinical nutrition services, including, but not limited to; performance improvement projects, revisions of standards of care, patient education materials, and development of nutrition related organizational policies.
  • Prioritizes workload and demonstrates flexibility in job function to meet the demands of the department.

Shift:

Day Shift - 8 Hours (United States of America)

Schedule: FT 30hr/wk Days

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
