The salary range for this position is $54,000 - $68,000, which will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
The Quality Inspector will be part of Quality Operations, responsible for supporting production readiness and quality processes within the Welland manufacturing facility. This role will work cross-functionally within the Waukesha business unit to ensure product quality requirements are met and to support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
The successful candidate will develop an in-depth understanding of quality theories, practices, concepts, and principles across the manufacturing function. They will provide technical guidance, perform inspections and analysis, and leverage multiple sources of information to help deliver high-quality products to our customers.
This position may support work within any of three key quality areas:
- Measurement Room, including operation of CMMs and other precision measuring equipment.
- Cleanliness Lab, including adherence to VDA 19.1 cleanliness inspection standards.
- Incoming Inspection, including supplier part inspection, new product introduction (NPI) support, and first article qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technicians and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure quality readiness of manufacturing processes.
- Perform inspection and verification activities in support of production and supplier quality requirements.
- Support work activities within any of the following quality areas: Measurement Room, Cleanliness Lab, and Incoming Inspection.
- Operate and utilize precision measuring instruments and equipment, including CMMs, as required.
- Conduct cleanliness inspection activities in accordance with VDA 19.1 standards and internal procedures.
- Carry out incoming inspection of parts received from suppliers.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, including inspection planning, validation, and launch readiness.
- Perform and support first article inspection/qualification activities to verify conformance to engineering and customer requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings and print requirements and be conversant with GD&T.
- Apply standard sampling plans for inspection based on variable and attribute data per ISO or internal standards.
- Support non-conforming material handling and disposition processes.
- Participate in Gage R&R, MSA, and other measurement system improvement activities.
- Prepare and support quality documentation including PFMEA, Control Plans, and Quality Instructions.
- Support ERP transactions related to quality activities in Oracle.
- Work closely with the production shop floor and support teams at the Welland site to share best practices, coordinate quality developments, and support quality initiatives and projects.
- Act as a quality resource and subject matter support for corrective actions related to observed quality and production issues.
- Support both internal and external process audits to maintain compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Assist in identifying quality-related issues and coordinating corrective and preventive action plans.
- Support supplier quality issue resolution in collaboration with supplier quality and sourcing teams.
- Ensure quality reports and records are accurately maintained and clearly communicated.
- Remain flexible to support operational needs, including shift work where required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering diploma or degree or equivalent is considered an asset
- Hands-on experience in SPC and MSA.
- Experience with precision measurement tools and inspection methods.
- Experience working with CMMs, cleanliness inspection processes, or incoming inspection is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection sampling methods.
- Familiarity with VDA 19.1 cleanliness standards is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting new product introduction and first article qualification is considered an asset.
- Strong collaborator and positive team player.

- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and coordinate several moderate projects simultaneously.

- Experience in QDAS and Welland operations quality processes is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Able to work onsite/Afternoon schedule.
