Job Title: Controller
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for managing accounting records, evaluating risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supervising the accounting department. This role plays a key part in strategic decision-making and maintaining the financial health of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable standards and regulations.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to enhance workflow and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management for strategic planning.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, conducting performance evaluations and ensuring professional development.
- Ensure timely filing of taxes and other regulatory reporting.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financing arrangements.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, or other corporate finance activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA preferred).
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Controller or similar role in accounting/finance.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
Preferred Skills:
- CPA certification.
- Experience in restaurant and food manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial modeling.
