Job Description

Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential paid for working alternate shifts. Eligible for semi annual discretionary bonus based on site performance. Please see attached benefits guide for benefits information. 

JOB SUMMARY

This hourly non-exempt position requires advanced knowledge and skills associated with Plating and Coating processes. Will be responsible for applying finishes to aircraft components and operating metal finishing processes in accordance with applicable industry standards and company policies and procedures. Must have a safety orientated mindset as working with chemicals is required. Duties will include an advanced knowledge of chemical handling and personal protective equipment. Job duties will be designated by the Plating Team Leader or his designee.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspecting, cleaning, preparing, and setting-up parts Passivation
  • Inspecting, cleaning, processing and recording parts for Cadmium plating
  • Maintaining chemistries for processing baths and testing processes
  • Maintaining calibration for required equipment and tooling
  • Must have basic electrical knowledge including, electrical circuitry, positive/negative, anode/cathode placement, AC/DC power supplies, rectifiers, and have experience working with hazardous chemicals and acids.
  • Must have a proven safety record and experience with PPE used in plating with hazardous chemicals. 
  • Assist in adding chemicals to the plating bathes to ensure proper balances are maintained.
  • Analyze problems with Chrome, Nickel, and Cadmium and be able to provide corrective actions to remedy problems.
  • Perform the required tasks associated with Plating and Coating processes. This will include abrasive cleaning, masking, racking, plating, data entry and heat treatment. 
  • Chemical mixing, pumping, and transferring. 
  • Light maintenance and cleaning of area, equipment and tooling on a daily basis.
  • Repairing or coordination of repair of equipment as necessary.
  • Maintaining preventive maintenance schedules for equipment/tooling/chemistries.
  • Inspection and return to service of processed parts and additional inspection duties as needed.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required.

Electroplating Certification preferred

 

Experience

Previous experience in handling and transferring of chemicals.

Knowledge of Plating and Coating processes required. 

 Initiative

Self-motivated and maintain a steady pace.

 

Responsibility

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.

Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work. 

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines

Work to the requirements of any specification designated for the Plating area.

Maintain a clean and sanitary work area.

Strictly adhere to Personal Protective Equipment guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during the performance of duties.

Customers and / or outside vendors.

 

Physical Requirements

Lift at least 40 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.

Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

 

Mental Requirements

Advanced understanding and implementation of regulations, Plating specifications and guidelines.

Apply Plating techniques in evaluating components or aircraft.

Work with others in a professional manner.

 

Supervision

Will work under assigned Team Leader and Director. 

 

Working Conditions

The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated chemical process room.

Varied positions in and around the shop area.

Work around industrial ovens will be required.

 

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools.

Plate equipment, including overhead hoist, thickness tester, pH meter, abrasive blaster, 

Industrial ovens and evaporators.
