Perform in vivo animal studies and wet laboratory experiments, per established protocols, and with guidance from the PI and other lab members. These assays include but are not limited to oral glucose and insulin tolerance testing in mice, injections (intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, and IV), mouse tissue dissections, biochemical assays, immunoblotting, RT/qPCR, and genotyping genetically engineered mice. Gather data generated from experiments described above and prepare data figures. Perform the husbandry, breeding, weaning, and genotyping of mice in the Stern laboratory mouse colony, and assign mice to specific Stern laboratory studies. Maintain mouse colony databases. Perform laboratory maintenance duties including ordering supplies and preparation of solutions. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper operation, calibration, and cleanliness, and perform other lab related tasks as needed. Assist PI in preparation of data figures for manuscripts and grant applications and conference presentations. Using data analysis and graphing software, process and graph data to be included in manuscripts, grants, and presentations that disseminate the findings of Stern laboratory research to funding agencies and the scientific community.
