Position Summary
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Develops goals and objectives and establishes and implements policies and procedures for team operations
• Communicates with Department Liaisons and coordinates resolution of A/R issues such as; special projects, payor projects and claim events
• Responsible for monitoring days in accounts receivable for all contracted and non-contracted payors, as well as optimizing reimbursement and reporting any/all fluctuations
• Reviews and validates account dispositions, collection referrals and payment research requests
• Manages the daily operations for the area of responsibility and all human resource related functions
• Assigns, prioritizes, and monitors respective staff workload
• Responsible for productivity standards, performance evaluations, personnel issues and staff development, core competencies, coaching plans and daily coaching for staff
• Reviews team performance, effects changes as needed to improve services
• Simplifies work flow and assures compliance with regulatory requirements
• Selects and trains/orients supervised personnel
• Assists in the preparing of departmental budgets and allocation of funds within their scope of operation
• Establishes and directs overall quality assurance activities
• Assigns, prioritizes and distributes work to be completed
• Responsible for the orientation and training of new employees for their respective area
• Holds regularly scheduled staff meetings and one-on-one staff sessions with agendas and minutes
• Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance to staff
• Maintains required records, files, reports and statistics
• Ensures that the respective area of responsibility operates within established budget limits and justifies any variances to Manager
• Addresses all patient/visitors/staff complaints and ensures that appropriate action is taken to resolve the problem
• Ability to communicate cooperatively and constructively with physicians, nurses, guests and other team members of the healthcare team
• Ability to maintain excellent professional behavior with a large volume of patient accounts from various social economic backgrounds
• Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
Other Related Functions
• Provides assistance to senior management on developing and implementing specific programs, products and services
• Participates in professional development activities to keep current with trends and practices in health care administration
• Maintains strictest confidentiality
• Establishes and maintains an environment of positive motivation through individual and group interactions with staff
• Facilitates and support the departmental goal setting process for staff
• Utilizes problem solving techniques to create a proactive environment
• Responsible for maintaining professional growth and development through education programs, lectures, research, etc.
Qualifications
Education/Training
• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Associate’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section)
• Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel or similar computer software is required
• Must complete Patient Services Professional Development program within one (1) year from date of hire
Licensure/Certification
• None
Experience
• Five (5) years of experience in physician revenue cycle management required
• Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care and commercial insurance reimbursement policies
• Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding and collection laws
