Position Summary The Director of Central Sterilization will provide leadership and oversight for all sterilization and instrument management operations within the College of Dentistry (COD). This role is responsible for directing a team that manages proper inventory control, safeguarding, maintenance, sterilization, and dispensing of all dental instruments, equipment, and materials, as well as overseeing the College's pre‑patient care and clinical inventory/dispensary systems. This position will be held in conjunction with a faculty appointment. The faculty title and associated salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and will be commensurate with experience and credentials. Duties Responsibilities Operations Management_x000d_ • Direct the daily operations of the College of Dentistry Central Sterile Supply Unit._x000d_ • Plan, implement, and administer the sterilization program for specialty clinics (Oral Surgery, Radiology, Endodontics, Periodontics, Restorative, Oral Medicine)._x000d_ • Develop and refine instruments retrieval/replacement schedules for sterilization and pre-patient activities._x000d_ • Establish standards for the management of materials and equipment in student clinics._x000d_ • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality within the sterile processing department._x000d_ Sterile Processing Compliance_x000d_ • Oversee sterilization, storage, and distribution of equipment and instruments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manufacturer standards._x000d_ • Develop departmental operating procedures, policies, and protocols in accordance with regulatory, union, and accreditation guidelines._x000d_ • Arrange periodic maintenance for sterilization equipment._x000d_ Inventory, Equipment Supply Management_x000d_ • Monitor and control inventory of dental instruments, equipment, and materials._x000d_ • Coordinate equipment management (inventory) with Department Heads and College Administration._x000d_ • Request repairs for equipment and instruments as needed._x000d_ • Coordinate with course directors to develop and order the annual “kit” and daily pre-patient care course supplies._x000d_ • Support purchases of consumable supplies in all predoctoral clinics._x000d_ Staff Management_x000d_ • Develop work schedules and assign responsibilities to ensure smooth operations and efficient workflow of supply and sterilization processes._x000d_ • Direct, supervise, and evaluate Central Sterilization staff directly or through supervisors._x000d_ • Plan, assign, and review work to ensure group objectives are met._x000d_ • Lead recruitment, hiring, training, and development to maintain a qualified team._x000d_ Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
