Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, well qualified and dedicated Lecturer in Media to join us on a 0.4 (10 hour) basis. We are look for someone to teach a group of AS Level Media Studies students for five hours a week and a group of A2 students for five hours a week.  

You will deliver engaging lectures, develop innovative curriculum content, and provide mentorship to students, fostering their growth and preparing them for successful careers in the media industry. As a Lecturer, you will support learners to achieve their targets, and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure learners receive a high-quality educational experience while maintaining accurate records and supporting programme development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding Media Studies programmes as directed by the Head of Section.
  • Plan, develop and deliver engaging lessons that inspire and 
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, development and innovation.
  • Support students through personal tutoring, progress reviews and target settings.
  • Develop and utilise high-quality learning materials, including digital and multimedia resources.
  • Maintain accurate academic and administrative records.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support the development and expansion of learning provision within the department.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, external partners, employers and stakeholders.
  • Promote excellent student outcomes and a positive learner experience across the Sixth Form.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A degree and/or relevant professional qualification in Media Studies or a related subject area.
  • A Certificate in Education or Level 5 Teaching Qualification.
  • Experience of delivering excellent teaching and learning practice.
  • Experience of preparing, developing and evaluating learning materials.
  • Experience of delivering relevant qualifications within Media Studies or a related discipline.
  • Strong digital skills and the ability to use ILT effectively to enhance learning.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and administrative skills.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and engage young people.
  • Experience of teaching diverse learner groups and adapting teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

Accepted Qualifications:
  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) 
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).

Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications:
  • PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) 
  • SFHEA (Senior Fellowship)
  • Masters in Education
  • TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)
