Converting Superintendent

Job Description

The Converting Superintendent is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a high-speed manufacturing environment, supporting tissue converting operations.

 

This role oversees frontline leaders and production teams to ensure products are made safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The Superintendent is accountable for meeting production targets, controlling costs, and driving continuous improvement across converting operations.

REPORTING

 

The Converting Superintendent reports to the Converting Manager.

 

Accountabilities

· Lead daily operations of converting/finishing processes, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and cost goals are met

· Supervise and support front-line leaders and production teams to deliver safe and efficient operations

· Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all environmental and OSHA regulations

· Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, proper maintenance practices, and operator training

· Review and adjust production schedules to improve efficiency, uptime, and customer service performance

· Monitor and improve key performance indicators such as waste, downtime, throughput, and labor efficiency

· Identify root causes of production issues and implement sustainable solutions

· Maintain accurate production, safety, and compliance records

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

· Support capital projects and provide input on equipment performance and upgrades

· Manage departmental budgets and control operating costs

· Build a positive team environment, address employee concerns, and promote accountability

· Execute department goals aligned with overall mill/manufacturing objectives

 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Background

  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment such as paper, pulp, tissue, converting, packaging, or printing
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience in converting or similar manufacturing operations (required)
  • Experience with high-speed equipment, production processes, and continuous improvement methods

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field strongly preferred
  • Equivalent experience in manufacturing leadership will also be considered
