Main purpose of the Director, Asset Protection role:
The role of the Director, Asset Protection is to develop, implement, and manage strategies to minimize loss, prevent theft, and fraud. The Director, Asset Protection will ensure compliance with stated safety and fraud prevention programs with a specific focus on warehouse and retail store security to minimize inventory losses. In addition, the Director, Asset Protection, will support the risk management process, including the insurance program portfolio. The Direct, Asset Protection is expected to review and assess areas for improvement across the organization and will partner with operations, legal, HR and IT to create a secure environment for customers, employees and merchandise. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally to implement change and maintain ongoing compliance with prescribed processes.
Major Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work with leadership to develop a robust asset protection strategy to align with company targets and goals, including defining key metrics for success
- Review security measures and address opportunities for improvement
- Develop robust processes and procedures at corporate locations, warehouses and retail stores to maintain a secure environment and minimize merchandise shrinkage
- Create & maintain training materials for asset protection at Retail and Distribution Centers
- Train members of the organization on asset protection, developing security awareness throughout
- Work cross-functionally, particularly with leadership teams, to ensure adherence to security measures
- Review data and quickly react to any trends or threats
- Develop and conduct ongoing audits
- Conduct internal investigations related to theft and fraud and coordinate with external enforcement agencies when necessary
- Partner with HR to address personnel concerns related to safety, fraud and theft
- Work with legal, HR, and law enforcement to address cases and recover assets
- Support the overall corporate risk management process and in particular, the insurance renewal process, maintenance of a sufficient insurance portfolio and management of claims
- Partner with the internal legal team and external insurance brokers to manage the loss claims process
- Travel as needed to support retail operations
Required Competencies:
- Candidate must be detail-focused and able to assess data and trends
- Quickly implement changes to react to trends
- Ability to articulate thoughts and findings both orally and in writing
- Ability to work and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
- Proactive in identifying and addressing challenges
- Strong communicator, able to handle conflict effectively
Required qualifications:
- BA/BS required
- 10+ years of asset protection leadership experience in retail and warehouse environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends
- Familiarity with laws and industry standards relating to loss prevention
- Experience with conducting investigations and partnering with law enforcement
- Ability to develop solutions and processes that scale
- Strong communicator with excellent leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
Preferred qualifications:
- Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
- SQL experience
