JOB OVERVIEW

The Shotshell Material Handler is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted production by supplying, staging, and rotating materials accurately and safely across all shotshell manufacturing lines. Success in this role is defined by maintaining correct component availability, proper lot tracking, FIFO inventory practices, and timely execution of setup instructions so equipment runs efficiently without stoppages. The position requires strong attention to detail, effective coordination with supervisors and line operators, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards. This role is essential to overall operations, supporting production flow, inventory integrity, and workplace safety within the Shotshell Department and the organization as a whole.

This position reports to the ShotShell Department Supervisor.

 What you’ll do:

  • Forklift operation
  • At shift start check all bins and powder towers to ensure production lines are ready to run
  • Verify with supervisor as to what product is being ran on equipment and be aware of upcoming changes to ensure the correct components are being used
  • Read and execute setup card issued from ballistician
  • Maintain the correct components and fill levels for each station so that machines do not stop
  • All bins must be properly identified with correct component code.
  • Maintain proper amount of powder in acclimation sheds
  • Ensure proper lot numbers, rotation of powder and issuance of new lot # tags to line operators when lots or powder type is changed and affix new tag on powder tower door.
  • Ensure proper rotation of all components so that we are using inventory in a FIFO (First In First Out) manner
  • Occasional operation of powered hand tools, trash compactors, and shot dumper equipment.
  • Keep area clean, swept, and organized at all times
  • Assist as needed to offload and receive incoming delivery trucks
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management

Experience you bring:

  • Forklift experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift license within 1 month if don’t already have one
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be able to read and have basic math skills
  • Must be able to follow instructions
  • Must be able to cooperate and work well with others
  • Must be able to work overtime when required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit, climb, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift, for a 10 hour shift
  • Must be able to lift up to 70lbs alone and up to 140lbs with assistance throughout a 10 hour shift
  • Manual dexterity to sufficiently use a computer keyboard
  • Good vision to detect potential quality issues on product

Pay Range will start out at $20.16 on a pay progression scale.

Work Environment:

Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range:

Hourly Rate: $22.40 - $25.92

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
