Ames CSD is seeking a Student Information & Data Specialist.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30; 255 work day position (year-round)
Summary
The Student Information & Data Specialist is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the district's Student Information System (Infinite Campus); managing data integrations across district platforms; and supporting staff, students, and families with accurate, timely, and efficient information services. This role ensures data integrity, system compliance, and effective workflows that support district operations.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Student Information System (Infinite Campus) Administration
- Administers, maintains, and optimizes all aspects of Infinite Campus and related SIS tools, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
- Creates, updates, and maintains staff, teacher, and student accounts; employment assignments; courses; grading standards; calendars; and scheduling rules.
- Manages course planning, annual roll-forward, and scheduling processes to support accurate enrollment and class assignments.
- Oversees grading windows, report generation, account access, and workflow approval processes.
- Maintains demographic database updates to ensure equitable access to student information.
- Creates, updates, and retires SFTP syncs, digital forms, and online registration (OLR) components within Infinite Campus.
- Identifies system needs, supports testing of upgrades and enhancements, and participates in ongoing SIS training and user groups.
- Designs, develops, and maintains SIS reports, ensuring accurate and timely results.
Third-Party Integrations & Systems Management
- Manages third-party integrations with systems such as Clever, Google Workspace, ParentSquare, Destiny, Access-It, First Student, Open Campus, and Edmentum.
- Administers Clever IDM, including rostering, custom data rules, and automated Google Workspace account management (organizational units, groups, and permissions).
- Ensures synchronization and accurate data flow of students, staff, and courses across all integrated platforms.
- Creates and maintains accounts for essential district systems.
- Maintains databases supporting student and staff access to technology resources.
- Utilizes spreadsheet and database skills to extract, analyze, clean, and interpret data.
- Seeks opportunities to streamline workflows, automate processes, and evaluate new products aligned with district goals.
Support, Training, and Collaboration
- Delivers technical and data support for the district's SIS, Google Workspace, Food Service Department, and integrated educational systems, providing troubleshooting, training, and documentation for staff, students, and families.
- Provides troubleshooting and technical support for Infinite Campus, Google Workspace, and integrated third-party systems to staff, students, and parents.
- Delivers training for staff on SIS features, Google Classroom, Clever, and district data processes.
- Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflow documentation.
- Collaborates with administrators, school office staff, the technology department, and other stakeholders to support accurate data practices and efficient district operations.
- Assists with peak-period support in the enrollment processes.
- Creates, updates, and maintains POS terminals, food service items, pricing, and staff/teacher lunch accounts.
- Facilitates data integration between the Food Service Department and the SIS.
- Serves as a front-facing point of contact, providing responsive support to staff, students, families, and public visitors to the District Office.
- Supports daily operations of the technology department and complete other duties as assigned.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Leads state-required student data certification processes and ensure timely, accurate submissions.
- Monitors industry trends in student data management and SIS functionality to support continuous improvement.
- Participates in professional development to strengthen technical skills and support district technology goals.
- Applies analytical and creative problem-solving to identify and address root causes of data or system issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or associate's degree preferred (technology discipline ideal), or at least two years of data management experience in an educational setting.
- Experience with Infinite Campus or comparable student information systems.

Compensation: $22.60 per hour
