Job Description
Job Summary
- Hybrid role. To be considered for this position, candidate must reside within 50 miles of one of the following Farmers Corportate Office Locations:
Dallas, TX - Oklahoma City, OK - St. Louis, MO - Phoenix, AZ - Kansas City, KS - Caledonia, MI - Lake Mary, FL
- Investigates, determines liability, confirms coverage, establishes damages, and negotiates settlement of claims.
- Will also be required to maintain an active adjusters license in states where required.
Essential Job Functions
- Estimates the cost of repair or replacement of damaged or stolen property and vehicles.
- Inspects damaged vehicles and determines claims related damage.
- Adjusts all types of claims.
- Investigates, confirms coverage, determines liability, establishes damages, reports status and negotiates the settlement of assigned cases which may include the more difficult files and which may require specialized experience (has authority to make payment of assigned claims within prescribed limits).
- Reports theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.
- Performs most duties on an individual basis, and work has a direct bearing on Management results.
- Represents the Company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of Management at all times.
- Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company published manuals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Actions
This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or an automotive related Associate of Applied Science degree from an accredited technical college, or the experience described below.
Experience Requirements
- Successful completion of the Special Claims Representative Certification process required, including all prerequisites, required tool proficiencies (that is, CCC, Collosus, etc. ) and exams.
- External candidates have 90 days from date of hire to complete the process and should have a minimum of two years of prior claims experience.

Demonstrate experience and proficiency in using the CCC system for estimating, claim documentation, and auto property damage assessments.
