REPORTS TO: Coordinator, Crafts

PAY GRADE: MT7, 240 (minimum $23.97)

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for ensuring the security and functionality of all District access points by installing, maintaining, and repairing locks, and key systems, and electronic entry systems.
KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lock and Access System Maintenance and Repair:
1. Re-keys, installs, and repairs locks across all District facilities, ensuring access points are secure, reliable, and meet District standards.
2. Manages and updates lock systems based on security needs and changes.
3. Fabricates new keys for authorized personnel, manages key requests, and keeps a detailed inventory to ensure key control and accountability throughout the District.
4. Diagnoses and repairs door hardware, including closure devices, hinges, locks, and other accessories, ensuring doors are safe, functional, and aligned with security protocols.
5. Maintains and updates the District's master key chart, ensuring accurate tracking and secure management of all access points to meet both operational and security needs.
7. Provides troubleshooting support for keyless systems to ensure reliable and secure access.
8. Performs welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair or modify lock and door components, assisting in custom modifications as needed to support District facility requirements.
9. Repairs and maintains flagpole ropes, pulleys, and hardware to ensure safe and functional operation across District locations.
10. Works in conjunction with other maintenance personnel to support a wide range of facility needs, providing expertise in lock systems, door security, and related areas.
11. Conducts regular assessments of building access points and lock systems, providing recommendations to enhance security, streamline access, and address any vulnerabilities.
12. Develops and follows a preventive maintenance schedule for all locking mechanisms, door hardware, and keyless entry systems to prevent breakdowns, reduce repairs, and extend the lifespan of security systems.
13. Monitors inventory of locks, keys, electronic components, and hardware supplies, coordinating with the purchasing department to ensure essential parts are available for timely repairs and installations.
15. Maintains detailed records of work performed, including lock changes, key assignments, and repairs. Documents security incidents or unauthorized access issues and reports them to the Crafts Coordinator.
16. Ensures that all locks, keys, and access systems comply with District, state, and federal security standards and regulations, supporting a safe and compliant facility environment.
17. Provides prompt support for emergency access needs, such as re-securing access points after break-ins or emergency events, ensuring minimal disruption to facility security.
Compliance:
19. Performs all duties in accordance with standard procedures and protocols established by the Maintenance Department and the District, and as set forth by governing entities and regulatory requirements including, but not
limited to, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Texas Occupations Code, and Texas Department of Public Safety. .
20. Demonstrates and maintains proficient understanding of compliance requirements and standards related to locksmithing, workplace safety, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, hazardous materials handling, environmental compliance, as well as other related standards and requirements applicable to the job function.
21. Monitors respective work activity for variances and anomalies.
22. Identifies and timely reports any known or suspected compliance issues to appropriate personnel.
23. Assists with audits and the preparation for audits, whether initiated internally or externally, as assigned.
24. Adheres to all other District wide policies and procedures including, but not limited to, human resources, safety, and emergency protocols.

31. Demonstrates advanced working knowledge of computer programs that pertain to key and lock management, access control and security, inventory and asset management, work order and maintenance management, documentation and compliance, and other relevant systems and applications applicable to the job function.
32. Demonstrates proficient working knowledge and understanding of spreadsheet, word processing, and email applications, such as Google Sheets, Docs, as well as other relevant systems and programs applicable to carrying out the essential duties and responsibilities of the job function.
33. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Two years of work experience in locksmithing, or a related field, with responsibility in key cutting, lock repair, and installation; or
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Active, Valid, and In Good Standing Texas Driver's License
