DESCRIPTION:
The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs (RSIP) is seeking a full-time Cosmetology Teacher who will have the opportunity to work in one of the most dynamic, state-of-the-art facilities in Nassau County. The candidate must have the ability to teach all students, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504s. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparing students to work in a wide range of positions within the cosmetology field
Providing classroom and laboratory instruction
Delivering instruction on academic and professional skills for job acquisition, retention and advancement
Emphasizing training in safety, sanitation, hair care, skin care and nail care
- Creating lesson plans and course outlines to prepare students to work in various areas of the cosmetology field
Preparing students to take the New York State Cosmetology Licensing Exam
Evaluating each student's progress as part of the record keeping
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification: Cosmetology 7-12
- A valid New York State Cosmetology License
- Four or more years of experience in cosmetology
Excellent oral and written communications and planning skills
Ability to network with professionals in the cosmetology field
Experience with salon management/ownership including hiring practices
Experience working with secondary students is preferred
