Senior Engineer - Power Device Electronics
Job Description
About the role - you will:
Work on a variety of projects including silicon development and design / verification of power distribution systems for HDD products.
Participate in silicon development activities centering on the specification, design and validation of full custom integrated power electronics including three-phase motor drivers, data converters and voltage regulators.
Conduct behavioral level modeling and design to help guide vendor efforts. In this capacity, examples include:
-
- Defining gain bandwidth product requirements for op-amp circuits
- Identifying appropriate switching regulator parameters (switch ON resistance, switching frequency, etc.)
Shift focus to component level testing when silicon becomes available, with the bulk of specified device parameters validated in the lab.
Work closely with other functional teams to integrate silicon into Seagate end products.
Own voltage budgeting, which is a detail-oriented process whereby an entire power distribution system consisting of voltage regulators, printed circuit board and receiving electronics is simulated to ensure critical voltage constraints will be satisfied in volume production.
-
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify requirements and generate system level models.
- Perform simulations to highlight issues and potential areas for improvement, with models and assumptions iteratively adjusted until all requirements are satisfied.
