This is a full-time position requiring weekend availability.

SUMMARY:
A facility maintenance leader who has a great working knowledge of all property responsibilities. This individual has developed a well-rounded skill set which allows them to help maintain the effective and efficient operation of the hotel. This engineer has the ability, or is gaining the knowledge to; perform tasks including: train and instruct other members of the staff through sharing of knowledge and skills, ability to carry out hotel standards/policies and procedures with assigned staff, ability to prioritize and organize work assignments, set an example of continuous self-development, provide a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures, ability to be a clear thinker in pressure situations and exercise good judgement, preserve the building and its systems during state of emergency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to learn new tasks
- Ability to learn all hotel standards, policies and procedures
- Carry out specific oral and written instructions
- Toilet repairs
- Tub/shower repairs
- Hardware repairs
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and understand electrical system (electrical license is preferred but not required)
- Ability to troubleshoot/repair HVAC systems and equipment (universal CFC license is preferred but not required)
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematic drawings and technical parts breakdowns
- Ability to read, log, track and interpret readings from meters, gauges and other measuring units
- Working knowledge of life safety systems and ability to act in an engineering capacity to protect and preserve our guests and associates.
- Provide training and technical advice to other engineers when needed or requested
- Ability to maintain a thorough log of each day’s activities and problems that occur to ensure this information is passed on to other shifts.
- Clean, protect, secure and maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel
- Protect and maintain assigned tools and lockers
- Keep accurate completion and task records in project files
- Ability to act in a supervisory role and assume responsibilities of leadership role
- Ability to clean all engineering areas as directed by Engineering Management
- Ability to work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping all work areas clean and organized
- Complete all work assigned in safe and professional manner
- Maintain a professional image at all times
- Maintain the hotel facility and related equipment in a safe efficient manner
- Provide a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures
- Perform and act in a position of management within the Engineering Department and facility
- Report to work on time in a full Engineering uniform
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Valid drivers license
- Universal CFG/EPA license is preferred
- Boiler Operator's License from City of Grand Rapids is preferred
- Mechanical Contractor's license is preferred
- Journeyman's Electrical License is preferred
- State of MI journeyman or master plumber license is preferred
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant work experience required
- Two (2) years of college or trade school equivalent in a mechanical, electrical, and/or technical disciplines is preferred
- 5+ years previous experience in maintenance/facilities/trades experience
- Previous hotel maintenance experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate:
