What you need to know
The primary duty station for this position will be TTI RELLIS campus in Bryan, TX. Due to the nature of this position, there is not a hybrid remote option available.
The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Please be advised that Texas A&M University will NOT pay this fee. Job Summary:
The Research Engineering Associate I, under general supervision, conducts laboratory and field tests on asphalt pavement materials including highways and airfields. Records, organizes, analyzes, and reports results. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
Essential Duties:
Performs laboratory testing. Records, organizes, analyzes and summarizes laboratory test results. Includes test results in reports and other deliverables to Principal Investigators (PIs). Offers insights and observations based on results to PIs. (60%)
Conducts field testing and pavement condition surveys. Assists and coordinates field visits including procuring and shipping materials and obtaining field cores. These activities will involve travel to field projects. Travel often requires overnight lodging, depending on the location of field projects. (25%)
Works with research staff and trains and assists graduate students, as needed, in laboratory and field testing. (10%)
Maintains an inventory of received and stored materials. Orders and purchases supplies to complete project-related work activities. (4%)
Performs other duties as assigned. (1%)
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Licenses, Registrations, and Professional Certifications:
Valid Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others on a team.
Other Requirements or Factors:
Travel to field projects for one or multiple days and may include overnight lodging.
Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or certification in aggregates, binder, and mixture laboratory testing preferred.
Experience in pavement field testing preferred.
Accreditation in aggregates, binder and mixture testing through the Texas Asphalt Pavement Association.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move moderately heavy objects and to exert heavy force with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to perform common office functions.
Ability to meet and communicate frequently with other individuals within the workplace.
Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
