Scope of Work:
The Aircraft Mechanic must accurately repair and perform scheduled maintenance on 737 aircraft and their associated engines and sub-systems to ensure airworthiness.
Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License Required
Responsibilities:
- Repairs, replaces and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as cowlings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills.
- Reads and interprets manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other related documentation to determine feasibility and method of altering or repairing the aircraft and its associated components, determining the airworthiness of the aircraft and its associated components and replacement for malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Inspects engines and their associated components for airworthiness, repairs or replaces defective engine parts and associated components, removes and installs engines onto the aircraft.
- Troubleshoots, repairs and replace electrical wiring and associated components.
- Performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including hydraulic system servicing, engine oil replenishment, aircraft systems lubrication and aircraft fueling.
- Interacts with company maintenance control, the customer and manufacturer in matters that concern the airworthiness of the aircraft, operational readiness of the aircraft and issues related to the troubleshooting of the aircrafts system.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Consistently produces quality products and service.
- Completes all training within required timeline.
- Performs all work in a safe and secure manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Relevant hands-on experience gaining the necessary skills with thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components to perform the job successfully.
- High School diploma or General Education Diploma, GED, or technical school certificate.
- Thorough knowledge of current FAA regulations, IPM, and ATA codes
- Familiar with Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations
- Must be able to pass a medical physical/evaluation exam prior to conducting flight and maintenance operations, and on a periodic basis within a five (5) year period in accordance with DCMA Instruction 8210.
- Ability to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) in a timely manner.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Must be able to maintain ability to access worksite location to include various military installations and airports to meet customer operational requirements.
- Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate a company vehicle.
- Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
- Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check
- Experience working on 737 airframes
- MUST HAVE Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Must be able to work alternate and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer to include weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to perform on-call duties when necessary and report to work within the required timeframe from notification.
- Must be capable of regularly lifting, moving, pulling, and pushing objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments. Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Outside work in winter, summer, rain, sleet, and snow and on uneven terrain – side hills and slopes.
- Must be able to lift and carry parts, tooling, and other awkward items sometimes weighing up to 50 lbs, including walking up and down stairs, aircraft maintenance stands, and platforms
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, and loud noise levels both inside and outside the hangar.
