We are hiring VP Low Carbon Portfolio to lead for G&LCE on critical M&A projects in Low Carbon and evaluate concepts for low carbon power businesses!
The VP Low Carbon Portfolio role is a permanent role reporting to the SVP Low Carbon.
The role holder will act as commercial lead on portfolio and performance management of the Low Carbon Portfolio (outside of H2/CCS) and deputise for the SVP Low Carbon in MPR/BPR/IG meetings (outside of H2/CCS) as needed. The successful candidate will also be accountable to deliver the final phases of the Low Carbon transformation programme, including stranded costs, residual liabilities/TSA management. You will also be accountable for acting as the commercial interface between the iJV’s and ST&S/trading to manage the integration of assets and optimisation of offtake and trading value.
What you will deliver
Commercial and project leadership (~50%):
Commercial SPA for 2-3 critical M&A/BD projects in Low Carbon as prioritised to the portfolio
Evaluate and incubate potential concepts for low carbon power businesses (e.g. FlexGen) and drive opportunities through Low Carbon and Group governance processes where relevant
Commercial lead on future farm-downs, iJV formation and BD opportunities as appropriate.
Leveraging power expertise to lead bp’s power offtake structuring & agreements from iJVs (~20%)
Commercial lead for bp on negotiations and closing out on JERA Nex bp power offtake and other iJV’s as relevant
Support ST&S in developing bp’s new capability to manage NZT power offtake/FlexGen
Identify & execute opportunities to create value through integrating power from different assets
Managing procurement and deployment of 3rd party power analysis to bp projects and IJVs
Portfolio & Performance Management (~10-20%):
Commercial lead on portfolio & performance management of Low Carbon Portfolio, including MPR/BPR, costs/capex reviews, working with Finance as lead.
Support assessment of Low Carbon investment cases & iJV cases as needed
Coordinate delivery of portfolio value through integration of assets across different iJVs
Integrate stakeholders across bp and iJVs, to identify portfolio and market opportunities
Review operational performance and leading indicators of future business plan delivery
iJV commercial support (~10-20%):
Advise Shareholder Team and act as Owner’s Engineer on power and technical issues, using 3rd party and BTC resources
Drive residual liability & stranded cost management and TSA/SLA’s related to Low Carbon JV formation & exits
Work with functional resources e.g. BD for power growth, Finance for market analysis, ST&S for gas/power trading; SCP for customer linkages
In this role, we have the following requirements:
Significant business acumen and commercial understanding
Technical experience in an energy business
Deep understanding / experience of global power markets (both short term and longer-term trends) and strategic implications
Significant experience gas value chains and in low carbon energy, especially low carbon power, hydrogen, and CCS
Significant experience in working with Trading, BD, M&A and in JV’s
Proven track record to influence and build strong relationships internally and externally to bp
Proven ability to manage complex situations; translate this to action; and engage/update senior stakeholders as necessary.
