Senior Construction Project Manager
We're looking for a Senior Construction Project Manager to lead large-scale convenience store remodels, capital improvement projects, rebuilds, and new construction initiatives across multiple states. This role serves as a key leader within the construction team, overseeing project execution from planning through completion while providing guidance, mentorship, and support to project management staff and external partners.
This is primarily an office-based position focused on retail construction in active store environments and is best suited for candidates with extensive experience managing complex construction projects, budgets, contractors, and stakeholder relationships.

Your key responsibilities:
You will lead multiple construction projects simultaneously while serving as a subject matter expert and mentor within the department. You will oversee project planning, contractor management, budgeting, scheduling, compliance, and execution to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Project Leadership & Execution
- Manage multiple retail construction, remodel, rebuild, and capital improvement projects across several states
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop project scopes, specifications, schedules, and budgets
- Lead projects from planning and bidding through construction and final closeout
- Review drawings, plans, schedules, contracts, and project documentation to ensure alignment with business objectives
- Coordinate construction activities in active retail store environments while minimizing operational disruption
- Conduct pre-construction meetings, project reviews, inspections, and final punch-list walkthroughs
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track
- Escalate project concerns, delays, or budget impacts to leadership as appropriate
- Assign projects to the team, matching PM’s strengths
Financial & Vendor Management
- Develop project budgets and forecasts while maintaining financial accountability throughout project execution
- Negotiate contractor, vendor, and consultant agreements to achieve cost-effective project outcomes
- Manage bidding processes and contractor selection
- Review, approve, and reconcile invoices, purchase orders, change orders, and project expenditures
- Monitor project costs and analyze variances to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings
- Support long-term capital planning and construction strategy initiatives
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, operations partners, landlords, and internal stakeholders
- Manage contractor performance and ensure quality workmanship throughout project execution
- Provide regular project updates and status reporting to leadership and operational partners
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communication and issue resolution
Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Construction Project Managers and project support staff
- Assist with onboarding, training, and development of construction team members
- Review project workloads and assist with prioritization of departmental resources
- Promote best practices, process improvements, and standardization across construction projects
- Support performance management efforts by providing coaching, feedback, and project-related evaluations
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all building codes, permits, regulatory requirements, company policies, and safety standards
- Monitor project inspections and coordinate corrective actions when necessary
- Ensure projects are completed according to company quality and operational standards

Great if you have:
- 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience
- Experience managing retail, convenience store, fuel, or multi-site construction
- Projects Prior leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience
- Experience working in occupied commercial environments
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and construction management software
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to travel as needed for project site visits and inspections
- Ability to walk active construction sites and stand for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
- Ability to reach, bend, and navigate construction environments safely
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with periodic travel to project sites
- Frequent interaction with contractors, vendors, operations leaders, and cross-functional teams
- Fast-paced environment requiring independent judgment and decision-making
- Moderate noise levels in office and construction site settings
- Work performed with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
