Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a practical, creative, and extremely talented Director of Applications & Business Development for Asia Market with the focus on Taiwan and China. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing global application and product strategies to drive sustainable revenue growth for the AIS- WLP business. This role provides strategic direction across customer engagement, market development, and product optimization and innovation, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
The Director will lead global, cross-functional teams to identify and commercialize existing and next-generation solutions in the semiconductor and Wafer-Level Packaging materials markets, with particular emphasis on electroplating chemistries and processes. This leader will play a critical role in disrupting existing markets through product optimization and innovation, leveraging close collaboration with R&D, and commercial teams. Success in this role requires executive-level engagement with strategic customers (e.g. TSMC, Micron, ASE, PTI & Amkor) and key tool partners (e.g., LAM, AMAT), as well as the ability to influence customers and OEM to drive adoption of new technologies.
What will you be doing?

- Lead and execute Asia-TW focused application and business development strategies aligned with global AIS-WLP objectives
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing regional application teams, ensuring strong alignment with global functions (R&D, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality)
- Help Scientist and engineers in characterizing and optimizing existing and newly developed products for electrodeposition of metals for the semiconductor industry including damascene, wafer level packaging and precious metal.
- Drive commercialization of existing products and adoption of new technologies across Asia, accelerating time-to-market and customer penetration. Generate relevant technical data for marketing presentations and specific applications.
- Act as the regional voice of the customer, solving customer pain points and providing market intelligence and influencing application and R&D product roadmaps
- Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic customers ( TSMC & OSAT) and regional tool partners (LAM, AMAT, ECI, Ancosys)
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, including region-specific innovations that can scale globally
- Support and enable regional commercial teams with technical expertise, value propositions, and competitive positioning
- Monitor competitive landscape and technological trends within Asia, ensuring AIS-WLP maintains and grows market leadership
Who are You?
- PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
- Minimum 15 years of experience in electronic materials, equipment, or process development
- Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in Sales and/or Marketing with established industry relationships
What competencies will you need?
- Deep understanding of semiconductor processes (WLP, plating, advanced packaging, precious metal)
- Strong knowledge of electrochemistry / materials science (especially electroplating systems like Ni, Cu, Au, different alloys)
- Ability to translate customer technical challenges into actionable development plans
- Ability to build trust with key customers (R&D & Key leaders)
- Ability to position products as POR (Process of Record) and drive adoption
- Understanding of customer decision processes (especially in Asia: Taiwan, Korea, China)
- Ability to define and execute product/application roadmaps
- Identify gaps (technical + commercial) and build plans to address them
- Understand competitive landscape and anticipate market moves
- Lead cross-functional teams (Applications and Technical Sales) without direct authority
