Job Purpose

We are currently looking for an Associate Counsel – Employment & Litigation for our corporate headquarters in Reading, PA. The position is presently a hybrid role with three days per week in our Reading, PA office (generally Tuesday through Thursday) with the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. The Associate Counsel – Employment & Litigation will be responsible for supporting the Chief Legal Officer and the Sr. Counsel, Litigation & HR with the internal legal affairs of the company in accordance with company policies and practices. This position will primarily be responsible for providing global legal guidance and counseling on human resource and employment matters as well as conducting and overseeing investigations from the legal side. The position will also assist with managing litigation and disputes as well as reviewing and drafting contracts while maintaining an exceptional level of professionalism. This position will report to the Sr. Counsel, Litigation & HR.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and counseling regarding labor and employment issues.
  • Manage, oversee, and support human resource legal matters and related investigations.
  • Manage and direct outside counsel on human resource related legal matters.
  • Support management, direction, and resolution of litigation and other disputes.
  • Review, draft and administer contracts and other legal documents as needed, including but not limited to, sales, purchasing, real estate, government and other legal documents.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of corporate policies, procedures and general compliance matters.
  • Assist with research and review of applicable federal, state and international statutes and regulations and maintaining the company’s compliance with them.
  • Utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and other technology tools in a thoughtful, creative, and responsible manner to enhance legal and operational efficiency, improve workflow processes, and support high-quality legal analysis, consistent with company policies, data privacy requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Aid with responses to legal questions from company management and staff.
  • Provide guidance and direction to paralegals and other support staff members of the Legal Department.
  • Provide assistance to the Chief Legal Officer and the Sr. Counsel, Litigation & HR as may be required.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree with at least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a lawyer.
  • Must have a practicing license and be in good standing within a particular state jurisdiction.
  • Must have excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Must have meaningful labor and employment law experience.
  • Must be willing to travel.
