Senior Sourcing Strategist, Engineering & Science
Job Description
About
Edison Scientific builds and commercializes AI agents for science. Scientific discovery moves too slowly, and autonomous AI agents are how we intend to fix that. While the world debates what AI will do for humanity, we're assembling a team of top researchers and engineers across AI and biology to deploy our AI scientist to solve the toughest R&D questions.
Role
We're hiring a Senior Technical Sourcer to own top-of-funnel at one of the most interesting companies in AI right now. There is a reason we have “strategist” in the role, and it’s because the conventional sourcing playbook doesn't cover the breadth of our roles.
The talent we're going after is not easy to find. We're hiring software engineers who can go on-site with pharma companies and ship production code, applied AI engineers building autonomous research agents, computational biologists who can speak both science and software, and scientists who want to work at the frontier of what AI can do for drug discovery.
This is a sourcing and screening-first role. You'll own the top-of-funnel, build pipelines before roles open, and run screens that give hiring managers real signal fast. You’ll need to know and master the latest AI-first sourcing tools and approaches to find top talent. You'll need to think differently about where these people are, why they'd move, and how to get them to respond. Over time - since you will have built a sustainable top-of-funnel engine - you'll grow into full-cycle ownership, including closing, offer management, and recruiting strategy.
You'll work directly with hiring managers, scientists, engineers, and leadership. You'll have real autonomy and real impact on who this company becomes.
This role is on-site at our San Francisco office in the Dogpatch neighborhood. Our office is a converted warehouse with high ceilings, open space, and a team that genuinely believes in what they're building. You'll report to our Head of Talent Acquisition.
Role
Own top-of-funnel across our most critical roles: AI engineering, applied science, computational biology, forward-deployed engineering, and GTM
Build and maintain warm pipelines before roles formally open, so we're never starting from zero
Develop AI-first sourcing strategies that go beyond the obvious: the candidates we need are not all on the first page of LinkedIn Recruiter results
Run high-volume, high-quality screens that give hiring managers signal they can act on quickly
Keep candidates genuinely excited about Edison throughout the process — you are often their first and most consistent point of contact, and that matters
Partner with hiring managers to stay calibrated on what great looks like, push back when we're drifting, and move fast when we find the right person
Use pipeline metrics and market data to tell us where we have gaps and what to adjust
Advise our existing recruiting team and help keep the candidate experience strong across every role
Qualifications
5+ years of technical recruiting or sourcing experience across engineering and AI roles, with a strong emphasis on outbound pipeline generation
Track record of finding and engaging candidates who weren't actively looking, and actually converting them
Ability to capture relevant data and utilize in decision making/influencing stakeholders
Strong instincts for talent: you know quickly who's worth pursuing and can explain why
Experience in fast-moving, early-stage environments where priorities shift and roles evolve
Exceptional with candidates — responsive, warm, clear, and someone people want to hear back from
Organized and metric-driven: you track your own funnel and use it to get better
Entrepreneurial mindset: you build what doesn't exist and don't wait to be told
Bonus points for
Technical recruiting experience in AI, life sciences, biotech, computational biology, or scientific research environments
Familiarity with modern ATS platforms like Ashby, and AI-first sourcing tools like Juicebox, Gem, and more
Startup experience and/or sourcing in a hyper-growth environment
Background experience supporting a full-cycle recruiting motion
Salary
$175,000 - $205,000

Lunch is on us every day you're in the office, and dinner is on us when you're working late
Regular team offsites and company events
A fast-moving, mission-driven culture where smart people do their best work and actually enjoy doing it
