ROLE SUMMARY:
We are seeking a whole school Head of Inclusion/ SEN Coordinator to coordinate and implement the special educational needs provision across the school. The successful candidate will be required to:
- Promote an ethos and culture that supports the inclusion of all students
- Determine the strategic development of the special educational needs (SEN) provision throughout the school
- Be responsible for specific provision to support individual pupils with diverse needs
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
- Supervise teachers in providing referrals and ensure IEPs are in place and records are maintained up to date.
- Coordinate our scholars programme, organising mentors, speakers and enrichment opportunities for students in receipt of scholarships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Head of Inclusion will have strategic and operational oversight of the Inclusion provision. He/she will work closely with the teaching staff to maintain the SEN register, develop schemes of work and lesson plans for pupils with identified needs of SEN learners, deliver support to identified students and facilitate learning by establishing a relationship with pupils, and by organising learning resources and the classroom-learning environment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- University Degree in Psychology / Education related discipline, with additional qualifications relating to special educational needs
- Experience in working with neuro diverse / SEN students of all ages
- Confident, articulate communication skills
- A positive and flexible approach to school life and leadership
- Experience of implementing and leading quality assurance processes for continuous improvement
- Enjoyment and genuine interest in working with and learning from students aged 3 - 14
- Fluent in the English language and have knowledge of Italian or a willingness to learn.
- Hold an EU passport or have already obtained the right to be employed in Italy.
