Internship - Cloud Engineering - 6 months

Position Summary

Are you passionate about cloud and on-premises infrastructure and eager to gain practical experience in a dynamic aerospace environment? Join our Basel IT Operations team as a Cloud Engineering Intern and support Jet Aviation’s cloud and hybrid infrastructure initiatives. As a Cloud Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to assist in deploying, maintaining, and optimizing cloud-based solutions, while also gaining exposure to on-premises infrastructure components that support our global operations.

Your Role

• Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud environments, primarily in Microsoft Azure, under supervision
• Assist in monitoring and maintaining cloud services to ensure performance, security, and availability
• Help with on-premises infrastructure tasks such as server configuration, network troubleshooting, and hardware support, contributing to hybrid solutions
• Support the administration of Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online and SharePoint Online
• Assist in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, escalating as needed
• Contribute to documenting cloud and on-premises processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
• Participate in basic automation and scripting tasks using PowerShell or Azure Automation
• Gain exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and practices, supporting automated and repeatable infrastructure deployments
• Embrace a DevOps mindset by collaborating across teams to improve deployment processes and infrastructure reliability
• Support security best practices and compliance efforts across cloud and on-premises environments
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate progress and findings

Your Profile

• Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program, e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Matriculation throughout the internship is required)
• Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts, especially Microsoft Azure
• Basic understanding of on-premises infrastructure components such as servers, networking, and storage
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online) is a plus
• Exposure to networking concepts (firewalls, VPNs) and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) is advantageous
• Basic scripting skills, preferably in PowerShell
• Interest or some experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and automation practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in infrastructure and cloud technologies
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly
• Self-driven, proactive, and eager to learn
• Fluent in English; knowledge of French and/or German is an asset
