Job Description
This position is responsible for implementing a materials management strategy to dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, either internally or externally, in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
Essential Functions
- Understand business - Develop a deep understanding of Crystal Clean’s business and the needs of its various functions related to waste disposal & transportation lanes
- Establish and maintain cost-efficient network of outlets for waste - Drive lower disposal costs by maintaining relationships within the industry and negotiating contracts to provide preferential alternatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders/managers – Develop an effective working relationship with managers throughout the organization to facilitate and negotiate effective strategic sourcing of disposal outlets
- Relationship management - Develop and maintain strong relationships with disposal/recycling outlets and provide direct interface with the outlets
- Optionality of outlets / diversity - Assess, manage and mitigate risks to ensure optionality (by sourcing alternative, cost-effective locations).
- Efficient transportation – Work with stakeholders to develop and maintain efficient transportation lanes
- Bid support- Support sales and the bidding process providing creative and cost-effective treatment and disposal alternatives
- Pricing/cost models - Build and manage pricing/cost models to ensure margin expectations are met
- KPI’s - Develop track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Track costs – Track costs and project out annual waste spend by vendor and technology
- Provides support for other functions as directed
Education & Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of experience in the hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal/management industry with direct involvement in disposal activities OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 13 years of experience in the hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal/management industry with direct involvement in disposal activities.
- Experience utilizing analytical skills to evaluate purchasing and cost data, developing trends, systems operations and expense control efforts
- Experienced operating in a regulated environment
- Experience organizing time, tasks and managing more than one project simultaneously
- Experience working in a team environment
- Experience utilizing experience to make decisions
- Basic skill level in Word and Outlook
- Advanced skill level in Excel
Work Environment: While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works indoors in an office setting and may be required to sit for long periods. Individual will be required to regularly talk, hear, see and often reach with hands, stand, walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Noise level of the environment is generally quiet.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $141,000 - $160,000, and includes benefits such as the following:
