Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated Microbiology Research Lead to join one of ICL's innovative units. This is an end-to-end research leading role that combines intensive wet-lab work with strategic thinking: the successful candidate will be part of the leading team, building a breakthrough technology, takes projects from ideation through experimental design and execution to data-driven conclusions and implementation.
This is a hands-on role focused on microbiological research, with an emphasis on biofilm studies and antimicrobial evaluation.
You will work in a multidisciplinary R&D environment across microbiology, formulation, and innovation arenas.
What will your responsibilities be?
-Lead a biological research stream of innovative technology. Translating ideas into practical solutions.
-Design and run microbiology studies. Plan and execute biofilm, antimicrobial, and surface-related assays, including controls, method selection, and interpretation .
-Perform independently advanced wet-lab work. Culture microorganisms, prepare media, apply aseptic techniques and execute plating, CFU enumeration, OD measurements, and related microbiological methods.
-Develop and improve methods. Troubleshoot assays, refine protocols, and improve reproducibility, relevance, and scientific quality.
-Analyze results critically. Identify trends, question assumptions, spot inconsistencies, and translate findings into clear conclusions and next-step recommendations.
-Document work clearly. Maintain accurate lab records and prepare SOPs, reports, summaries, and presentations that support internal decision-making and knowledge transfer.
-Collaborate across functions. Work closely with cross-functional teams to support product development and industrial validation.
What are we looking for?
-Ph.D. in Microbiology is required. Strong advantage to candidates who bring experience in Biofilm.
-2-3 years of practical hands-on microbiology lab experience, including bacterial culturing, plating, media preparation, and standard aseptic techniques; strong academic research experience will also be considered.
-Proven end-to-end research ownership. Demonstrated ability to take an idea from strategic concept to experimental plan throughout execution
-Ability to work independently, manage multiple experiments in parallel, and drive research forward with high ownership.
-Independent and proactive. A self-starter with the confidence to challenge results, propose new directions, and drive projects forward.
-Thrives in environment of frequent communication with the team and interfaces.
-Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
