
Mental Health Therapist, Inpatient Behavioral Health
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs mental health assessments, individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy to clients in mental health programs associated with Shore Regional Health.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Conducts therapy interviews and mental status evaluations for clinical therapy and skill-building.
- Completes mental health assessments (symptoms, coping) and determines therapy needs.
- Develops therapy goals for each client in collaboration with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Provides individual, group, and family therapy; teaches coping skills and psychoeducation.
- Provides therapeutic de-escalation, safety planning, and emotional stabilization
- Shares clinical insight with treatment team, informs therapeutic approaches.
- Develops treatment materials and educational groups for inpatient behavioral health. Monitors clients' responses to treatment and revises the plan of care.
- Collaborates with Psychiatric Providers, IP Nursing manager, referral sources, and community agencies.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation in client records.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement, promotion, and provision of services, including marketing.
- Maintains positive customer and staff relations.
- Seeks and supports opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Responsible for honest behavior in all matters.
- Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served. He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department's policies and procedures.
This position requires a person who exhibits a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, the ability to work productively under stress, and who displays a professional demeanor and is able to prioritize workloads. Must be willing to travel between facilities.
Work Experience
Minimum Education, Experience, and License/Certification:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Certified or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a Behavioral Health setting
- BLS through the American Heart Association is Required
- One year of substance abuse or addiction treatment experience preferred.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Compensation:
· Full-Time; Days (8a – 4:30p)
· Pay Range: $33.36/hr. - $46.70/hr. (Exempt)
