Restoration Crew Member Job Description
The restoration crew member will perform concrete and asphalt restoration work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Form, place, and finish concrete.
Cut, fit, and join construction materials such as asphalt and concrete
Use floats, trowels, and screeds to level concrete
Use jackhammer, tamper, and roller to prepare and finish asphalt
Operate power construction equipment
Perform basic carpentry
Plan, lay-out, and use appropriate power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts
Construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden and metal forms, according to specifications for molding concrete structures
Erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms
Insert spreaders and tie-rods between opposite pieces to maintain specific dimensions
Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timber
Place concrete into forms and finish according to specified textures
Vibrate, level, smooth, and shape surface of concrete
Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer
Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound
Follow jobsite safety regulations and keep your work area safe and clean. Identify all potential safety hazards. Eliminate or minimize all identified hazards
Full cooperation with Superintendent, Foreman, and Subs at all times
Finish tasks on time
Produce high quality work
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Ability to pass pre-employment screenings (motor vehicle, drug, and background)
Must work safely and follow all OSHA, and other Federal, State, and local safety regulations and company safety rules and procedures
Can work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 70 pounds
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
Must be able to comprehend safety standards, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Must be able to understand information, ideas, direction and perform the task or project discussed.
Ability to climb and work at elevations (e. g. , from ladders) up to 18 feet
When working aloft, employee's weight and tools combined may not exceed the 280-pound weight limit as specified by the manufacturer
Must be able to properly use and handle toxic or caustic chemicals.
Ability to use hands to grasp and reach with arms
Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas
Ability to repeatedly stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist throughout the workday and week
Ability to frequently lift and/or push/pull up to 30 pounds up to 50 feet
Ability to frequently lift up to 30 pounds up to 3 feet off the ground
Occasionally lift and/or push/pull approximately 120 pounds up to 25 feet
Occasionally lift approximately 120 lbs. to a surface approximately 12 inches off the ground
Ability to repeatedly operate a 12lb sledgehammer throughout the entire workday and week
Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift in all weather and temperature extremes
Vision adequate to perform all tasks
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent required
Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record
2-3 years of relevant experience required, or an equivalent of education and experience
Restoration experience in asphalt and concrete required
Experience operating mini-excavators beneficial but not required
WORKING CONDITIONS
May be required to work long and unpredictable hours including weekends
Working outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Bend/squat/kneel/stand frequently
Exposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levels
Required to wear personal protective equipment as needed to perform job tasks
Regularly exposed to noise, dust, and various types of smells
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
