Job Description

Be part of something altogether life-changing!

Working at Cytiva in the Life Sciences industry means being at the forefront of providing new solutions to transform human health. Our incredible customers undertake life-saving activities ranging from fundamental biological research to developing innovative vaccines, new medicines, and cell and gene therapies.

At Cytiva you will be able to continuously improve yourself and us – working on challenges that truly matter with people that care for each other, our customers, and their patients. With associates across 40 countries, Cytiva is a place where every day is a learning opportunity – so you can grow your career and expand your skills in the long term.

Cytiva is one of 10 Life Sciences companies of Danaher. Together, we accelerate the discovery, development and delivery of solutions that safeguard and improve human health.

The aim of this project is to investigate the effect of several mutations to the proteins’ alkaline and thermal stability.

The student will learn how to design a gene for expression, produce recombinant proteins in an E.coli expression system, as well as how to harvest and lyse the cells. Then, the proteins will be purified with chromatography methods. Yield and purity will be determined with analytical methods, such as SDS-PAGE, size exclusion chromatography and LC-MS. Protein stability will then be determined with a Biacore assay (NaOH-stability), and differential scanning fluorimetry and/or circular dichroism (thermal stability).

What you’ll do

  • A diploma work/master thesis focusing on protein biochemistry.
  • Produce, purify and analyze your protein samples with different techniques.
  • Analyze your findings and develop follow-up experiments.

Who you are

  • Master student in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biology or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of protein production, purification, and analytical methods.
  • Eligible for master thesis project work between September 2026 – January 2027
  • Enthusiastic about performing laboratory work.
  • Ability to individually plan and perform experiments but also to work in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Interview and selection will happen continuously and the opening can be filled before last day of application. We look forward to hearing from you!

Join our winning team today. Together, we’ll accelerate the real-life impact of tomorrow’s science and technology. We partner with customers across the globe to help them solve their most complex challenges, architecting solutions that bring the power of science to life.
