Job Description

Meet the Team

The Cisco Cloudx Ops team is a dynamic group of developers, Solutions Architects, and data engineers dedicated to supporting Cisco’s public cloud infrastructure and operations. As part of the Cloud Management and Operations (CMO) team within Cisco IT, we build the platforms and automations that enable governance, operational efficiency, cost management, and security guardrails across Cisco’s public cloud environments. We are a diverse, collaborative team of innovators committed to shaping the future of cloud technology through transformative, secure, and scalable solutions.

Your Impact

As a Solutions Architect with a focus on Data and AI/ML, you will lead the planning, design, and implementation of high-impact technology solutions. You will bridge the gap between complex data architecture and intelligent automation, architecting scalable systems that integrate diverse data sources, optimize cloud resources, and drive operational excellence. You will influence technology strategy, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with collaborators to deliver business-critical features that define the future of Cisco's public cloud journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Architecture: Architect, design, and implement organizational policies, solutions and frameworks to support multi-tenancy Azure, GCP and AWS environments.

Data & AI Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using AWS Glue, Apache Airflow, and Snowflake. Architect AI-driven agents and predictive models for drift detection, cost anomaly detection, and cloud resource forecasting.

Intelligent Automation: Lead the development of AI/ML-driven automation to monitor and optimize cloud environments, integrating insights from Cloud Service Providers with internal data platforms.

Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership in design sessions and code reviews. Mentor Cloud Service Engineers and developers to develop a supportive, high-performance work environment.

Governance & FinOps: Partner with the Security and Trust Organization to carry out compliance guardrails. Collaborate with the Cloud FinOps team to align on cost models and drive architectural refactoring for cost efficiency.

multi-functional Collaboration: Work with IT, engineering, and business collaborators to deliver impactful projects, including acquisition integration activities and the adoption of modern DevOps/CI/CD practices.

• Operational Excellence: Maintain comprehensive documentation, execution roadmaps, and best-practice guidelines to standardize cloud administration and AI/ML integration at scale.

Experience with Agile and DevOps operating models, including project tracking tools (e.g., Jira), Git (any Version Control systems), and CI/CD systems (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Bachelor’s degree + 10 years of related experience, or Master’s degree + 8 years in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.

Architecture & Cloud: 6+ years of experience as a solutions architect, systems architect, or in a related IT architecture role with deep knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP.

AI/ML Expertise: At least 2 years of experience building and deploying ML models focused on cloud operations.

Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with Python, PySpark, and ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-Learn).

Data Engineering: Validated experience with AWS Glue, AWS Athena, Snowflake, and orchestrating complex workflows using Apache Airflow DAGs.

• Automation: Proficiency in automation languages (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).

Preferred Qualifications

Operational Background: Experience with streaming data, APIs, and telemetry systems in enterprise environments.

Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD operating models (e.g., Jira, Git, GitLab/GitHub Actions).

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Leadership: Demonstrated record of leading technical initiatives, facilitating consensus across teams with varied strengths, and driving process improvements.

Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) are highly desirable.
