About Us
Appalachian Community Services provides Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, and Developmental Disability services to individuals, families, and communities within the seven western counties of North Carolina. We provide a wide range of walk-in, psychiatric, substance abuse, and crisis services to adults and children.
About the Role
The Mobile Crisis supervisor will
- Triages and assesses through consumer and collateral contacts. This involves interfacing with other agencies, the police, medical profession, etc.
- Responsible for gathering information on the presenting problem and developing a disposition
- This position will have a wealth of written information to assist in making complex level of care decisions for a wide variety of consumers. These will include level of care criteria, involuntary commitment criteria, lethality scales, and substance abuse criteria. The Mobile Crisis Clinician is expected to incorporate these and other criteria into their decision-making process
- Consults with psychiatrist, in person or by phone, when consultation is indicated according at ACS policy
- Determine appropriate level of care for consumers services
- Provides case management services to consumers and others who contact Mobile Crisis
- Obtains and reviews information presented concerning housing medications, hospitalization and other issues
- Contacts necessary parties in an attempt to solve crises
- Facilitates a consumer’s access to MH/SA/DD services and community resources
- Refers situations to appropriate parties when indicated
- Follows up on referrals when consumer is referred to another agency
- Contacts consumers and others involved in a crisis situation in an attempt to stabilize by providing support and direction

Compensation
This role is compensated on a salaried basis, providing consistent earnings aligned with the responsibilities and expectations of the position.
- Compensation: $57,918 - $74,372
Placement within the range is based on licensure level, education, and experience.

- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate with care teams as needed
- Maintain compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in human services or Social Work.
- 2 years of experience working with MH/SUD.IDD and
- a minimum of one (1) year’s experience in providing crisis management services in the following settings: assertive outreach, assertive community treatment, emergency department or other service providing 24/7 response in emergent or urgent situations
