
Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Infusion Procedural Center
Job Description
Provide safe and direct care to patients in their assigned work location making appropriate age adjustments as needed. Monitor patients’ conditions and provide updates to the health care team.
Provide direct and indirect care to patients with and without medical/surgical complications to meet their comfort, personal hygiene and safety needs.
Provide care in accordance with nursing and medical plans of care and deliver per UVA Health Nursing and Hospital policy and procedure.
Ensure assigned clinical location is maintained as a safe, clean, stocked environment to facilitate meeting patient needs.
Maintain supplies, educational material, equipment, sterilization of supplies, instruments and the environment to promote quality, safe patient care outcomes (as applicable).
Contribute to the patient experience by accurately identifying the patient, by observing safety goals and reporting to a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or Registered Nurses.
Identifying and reporting physical and mental responses posing harm to the Registered Nurse
Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the plan of care, including admissions as outlined by UVA Health policy.
Obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests.
Attend all mandatory in-services and training.
Ensure patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives.

Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience: No experience required
Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. For team members hired prior to May 11, 2026, certification is not required, as relevant experience will be accepted in its place.
Must have one of the following:
- Certified Nursing Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Military Corpsmen/Medic (Combat Medic Specialist /Tactical Combat Casualty Care /Tactical Paramedic) NREMT certification or Tactical Responder Certification
- LPN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Graduate of a certified nursing program
- Patient Care Technician Certification, preferred National Center of Competency Testing
- Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Clinical Experience and Didactic
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
