Job Description

A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the following:

- Ensure accurate identification, classification, and handling of hazardous materials in accordance with DOT, IATA, IMDG, and company-specific dangerous goods regulations.

-Proper packing, marking, labeling, and documentation of outbound hazardous shipments to ensure full regulatory compliance and safe transport.

-Audit dangerous goods packages to verify correct UN specifications, packaging integrity, hazard labels, and documentation accuracy prior to shipment.

-Ensure all quantities, hazard classifications, packaging requirements, and shipping documentation align with customer specifications and regulatory standards.

-Perform detailed inspections to confirm products are free from damage, leaks, or defects that could compromise safety or compliance.

-Experience interpreting Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and applying proper handling, storage, and shipping requirements for various hazardous materials classes.

-Experience using a commercial WMS (warehouse management system) such as Blue Yonder, Red Prairie, JDA, SAP, etc., to process and track hazardous shipments.

-Microsoft Office software, including Excel, with the ability to maintain shipping records, compliance logs, and reporting related to dangerous goods handling.

-Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, regulatory adherence, and accuracy in a high-compliance environment.


Role Purpose:

Responsible for safe, secure, and accurate filling of customer orders according to Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods handling SOP’s and regulations. Replenish or pick product with direction from pick sheets or hand held computer. Obtains merchandise from bins or shelves to fill the order. Assists the Materials Transport Compliance Specialist in the picking, packing, and shipping of Dangerous Goods.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Pick customer orders or shipment efficiently, ensuring the correct number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Picks, packs and processes packages of Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods for shipment.
  • Count product inventory by location accurately.
  • Transport orders to shipping locations utilizing powered or non-powered material handling equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, customer requirements, quality assurance policies andprocedures in the handling of Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods.
  • Assist in physical inventories.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, orderly, and safe work area.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 1 year or more experience in a warehouse setting
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred
  • Prior experience handling/shipping of Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods, preferred
