Working as an Operations Director within DHL Supply Chain means leading large-scale, multi-site warehouse and transport operations with a strong focus on people, performance, and customer outcomes. You will join a collaborative leadership community that values respect, partnership, and continuous improvement, supported by proven approaches such as First Choice and Gemba engagement. This is a role for a hands-on, authentic leader who enjoys being close to the operation someone who can engage and develop large, layered teams, balance commercial priorities, and bring consistency across geographically diverse sites, all while building trusted, long-term relationships with customers.
✅A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE
- Leading multi-site operational performance reviews, analysing warehouse and transport KPIs, and setting clear actions to improve safety, service, and cost efficiency
- Conducting Gemba walks across distribution centres and transport functions to identify continuous improvement opportunities and engage frontline teams
- Driving safety initiatives, reviewing incidents, and ensuring robust risk mitigation plans are in place across all locations
- Chairing customer review meetings, managing expectations, resolving escalations, and identifying opportunities for growth or service enhancement
- Collaborating with site General Managers and functional leads on resource planning, including labour, fleet, and capacity to meet forecast volumes
- Reviewing financial performance against budget, ensuring profitability targets are met across warehousing and transport operations
- Engaging with senior stakeholders, HR, and support functions to lead talent development, succession planning, and organisational effectiveness across the network

- A proven Operations Director or senior leader who has led large teams across multiple locations, with several management layers
- Someone with strong commercial acumen, capable of balancing customer expectations, operational performance, and financial delivery
- A leader who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment, with the ability to drive standards, performance, and continuous improvement culture
- An individual experienced in matrix management, influencing across functions and building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- A change agent who can lead transformation initiatives, embed best practice, and deliver long-term operational and cultural improvements
- A credible and engaging communicator, confident working with customers, senior leaders, and frontline teams to inspire, influence, and deliver results
