Job Description
The Maintenance Technician supports the Equipment Department by maintaining the overall quality, safety, and maintenance of all equipment, vessels, and the shipyard.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Upholds the Company’s commitment to an injury-free workplace; leads and models safe work practices
- Follows all safety rules and regulations as well as all company policies and procedures
- Works safely around machinery; observes and instructs others in proper equipment use; uses/wears all required PPE
- Ensures team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies
- Supports and assists with engine and mechanical repairs on engines and gearboxes
- Provides mechanical and equipment support during dredge pump and thrust bearing change-outs
- Responsible for all yard equipment maintenance and routines
- Works with Lead Electrician on electrical maintenance and repairs
- Manages yard logistics and materials for welders and any needs from the Dredge Chiefs
- Works with Port Chief to learn and develop skills to independently overhaul tender boat engines and gearboxes
- Troubleshoots issues on Tender boats with the Port Chief
- Creates and completes work orders in ZOHO
- Completes Daily Logs
- Assists in any yard repairs of equipment, along with any needed repairs from the dredges
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to travel with overnight stays when necessary
- Trained in Lock/Out Tag Out Procedures, Fall Arrest, Confined Space and Ladder Safety (on-the-job training also provided in these areas)
- Basic computer skills-MS Office email, word processing, spreadsheet (a plus)
- Ability to prioritize projects and repairs
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
- Must have excellent communication skills and communicate effectively with supervisors and all other personnel
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job Description
- Must be able to successfully pass all pre-employment screening (drug test, fit test) in addition to random drug and alcohol testing
