Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Job Description
The Center at Northridge is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team. The successful candidate will work under the direction of a registered Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality therapeutic services to our residents, focusing on improving their independence, mobility, and quality of life within a skilled nursing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist to help residents regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Assist residents with exercises, adaptive equipment training, and cognitive interventions.
- Monitor resident progress and provide detailed documentation of treatment sessions and outcomes.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, and physicians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all residents during therapy sessions.
- Educate residents and their families on home exercise programs and the use of assistive devices.
- Valid COTA certification from an accredited program.
- Current state licensure in good standing.
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric care preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to physically assist residents with mobility and transfers.
Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
