Position: Tool Control Specialist
Location: Charleston, SC

Reports to: FM
Department: North American Operations
Position Purpose: A Tool Control Specialist ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes, maintaining a smooth operation of equipment and ensuring high-quality production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates the values and business principles of Leadec.
- Works safely at all times.
- Design, develop, and maintain metal removal cutting tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machining cutting tools.
- Conduct testing and analysis of cutting tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with the purchasing department and vendors on a global scale.
- Train and lead team members in tooling processes and standards.
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and procedures.
- Utilize Pareto Analysis for process improvement.
- Create and interpret tool layout drawings and regrind standards.
- Adhering to and supporting all EHS and Quality objectives, in accordance with ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 respectively.
- All other duties as assigned by Leadec manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Communication Skills - Ability to communicate with all levels of Leadec and customer employees.
- Language Ability -- Talking to others to convey information effectively.
- Stronge analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Expert-level knowledge of machining cutting tools.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, cutting tool geometry/formulas, cutting force, tool path, and high-volume machining processes.
- Proficiency in CNC machining and AutoCAD.
- Competence with all MS Office Products.
- Familiarity with inventory control and CPU calculations.
- Ability to read and draw tool layout drawings and regrind standards.
Position Qualifications:
- 2-Year Degree in Tool and Die or Machining.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Willingness to work off shifts, on call and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to manage time without extensive supervision.
- Must have high-level proficiency with all MS Office Products.
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the key actions of the job:
- Required to talk and/or hear in an industrial setting (noise level is moderate). Frequently required to stand and walk on concrete surfaces for 4 -12 hours. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
- Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and focus adjustment.
- Work is performed in an industrial-manufacturing environment with occasional time spent working on a computer or at a desk.
