With immediate effect, the Safeguarding Unit is looking for a: 

Case Manager

Amsterdam/Nairobi based

Objectives of the position 

The Case Manager strengthens MSF‑OCA’s ability to respond effectively and consistently to misconduct by ensuring high‑quality case management across headquarters and country programs. Your goal is to build confidence in response systems, support stakeholders in managing cases correctly, and promote a survivor‑centered approach. You will work as part of an international team based in Amsterdam and Nairobi, collaborating closely with colleagues across offices and country programs.

Main responsibilities  

  • Review the case management framework to ensure alignment with intersectional and sector standards.
  • Develop and refine policies, tools, and procedures that enable timely and correct handling of CoC (Code of Conduct) violation cases and develop and deliver case management trainings.
  • Clarify roles and communication lines between HQ and country level case management.
  • Provide technical guidance and supervision to country-based case managers and the Safeguarding Unit's Case Officers.
  • Strengthen understanding of complex case management across diverse cultural settings.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support stakeholders in context analysis for individual cases.
  • Oversee and participate in case and investigation management, including triage, escalation, and follow-up of complex cases.
  • Ensure quality documentation and communication of case progress and outcomes.
  • Promote a survivor‑centered safeguarding culture focused on learning and accountability.
  • Report on trends and risks and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Engage with the wider MSF movement to contribute to harmonized case management approaches.
  • Collaborate with HR on CoC complaint management and alignment of shared procedures.

Candidate Profile 

  • MSc in Law, Politics, History, Social Sciences or an area related to the expertise 
  • 7+ years’ experience in safeguarding, protection, or a related area.
  • Experience working in high-risk contexts in countries of operation in the humanitarian, health, or development sector is highly desired.
  • Deep understanding of safeguarding concepts and best practices, particularly in humanitarian contexts. 
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex safeguarding processes.
  • Cross‑cultural competence and ability to work across diverse environments.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; French highly desirable at C1 level or above.
  • Alignment with MSF values.

We offer  

  • A Dutch of Kenyan employment contract starting asap based on 40 hours per week.
  • A gross monthly salary in OCA-HQ scale 17.
  • 30 days of paid leave (based on full-time contract), a competitive pension plan, holiday allowance, and commuting allowance based on the Dutch compensation package. Conditions for Kenyan contracts may vary.
