About the Role

As a Senior Network Engineer within our India Global Capability Center (GCC), you will partner closely with global infrastructure and cloud engineering teams to design, deploy, monitor, and maintain Columbia Sportswear’s enterprise, datacenter, and cloud networks.

This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent English communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones with international stakeholders. You will work alongside senior engineers and network architects to implement reliable, scalable, and secure network solutions that support our global business operations.

The position blends operations, engineering design, automation, and vendor engagement, requiring strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to self-prioritize in a dynamic environment.

You will also participate in a shared on-call rotation to support critical global network events.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and optimize network monitoring and alerting systems to achieve deep observability across global network endpoints.

  • Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for efficiency using automation and tooling.

  • Deploy and support on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid network solutions.

  • Collaborate with global network architects to design maintenance, expansion, and modernization initiatives.

  • Review existing network solutions and contribute recommendations for improvement.

  • Define, champion, and document best practices to enhance network reliability, performance, and security.

  • Develop automation scripts, workflows, and tools to streamline incident detection, triage, and resolution.

  • Collaborate across international teams in North America, EMEA, and APAC to support shared infrastructure projects and deliver global outcomes.

  • Engage in vendor and circuit provider coordination, including cost and contract analysis.

  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation for audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.

  • Participate in global on call rotations for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents.

  • Work flexibly with occasional evening or early morning meetings aligned to global time zones.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent, or 5+ years of experience in enterprise, cloud, and/or datacenter networking.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English—both written and spoken—while working daily with international teams.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across network and application layers.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and skill enhancement.

  • Ability to solve complex problems using good judgment and analytical thinking.

  • Experience working in global teams or distributed engineering environments is highly preferred.

  • Experience with the Palo Alto firewall and SDWAN products.

  • Experience creating and maintaining operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides to support consistent incident response and change execution.

  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code practices, including version control (e.g., Git), peer review, testing/validation, and promoting changes through environments.

  • Hands-on Ansible development experience, including writing and maintaining playbooks/roles, using Ansible Vault, following coding standards, and building reusable automation for network configuration and compliance.

What You Know

  • Handson experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Ansible or similar automation frameworks.

  • Strong proficiency in supporting and maintaining multisite corporate networks and datacenter environments.

  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., LogicMonitor) and automation platforms (e.g., Ansible).

  • Solid understanding of network architecture and the operational tradeoffs of various designs.

  • Ability to work effectively in a GCC model supporting global technology operations.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working with Arista switches and routers.

  • Professional certifications such as CCNA / CCNP (or equivalent vendor neutral certifications).

  • Experience in cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or GCP with a focus on Azure.
