Founded in 1975, BR+A Consulting Engineers maintains a total staff of over 500 employees located at our main office in Boston and branch offices in New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Vienna, VA (Washington, DC); Coral Gables (Miami) and Tampa, FL; Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Charlotte and Raleigh, NC; Charleston, SC; Houston, TX; New Haven, CT; Los Angeles, CA; Denver, CO; and Toronto. BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services.
BR+A is seeking a Technology Systems Designer for our Miami, FL office. This position’s responsibilities include:
- Providing Engineering, Design work, and drafting of plans
- Implementing approved system concepts from a schematic diagram to floor plans
- Sketches, rough layouts to review with project engineer or Project Manager
- Reviewing product cut sheets and technical information
- Communicating with Project Manager/Project Engineer regarding potential problems
- Meeting with vendors to determine spatial requirements for application of the product
- Coordinating with other disciplines and the architect
- Attending meetings as required, working to submit the required documentation per project deadlines
- Attending in-house coordination meetings when appropriate
- Developing strategy to meet project schedule
- Assisting in development of engineering systems concepts (M/E)
- Assisting design team on major design issues
- Organizing required technical correspondence, emails and calculations
- Performing field work and verification of existing conditions
Required experience and skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering
- Qualified experience using Autodesk Revit design software
- Minimum of 3 years of experience designing Information and Communications Technology systems (Data Networks, cDAS, Nurse Call, Electronic Security, Paging, Wireless, etc.)
