Oracle Health (Cerner) HIM Coding Consultant
Job Summary:
The Oracle Health (Cerner) HIM Coding Consultant is responsible for supporting Health Information Management (HIM) and coding workflows within Cerner Millennium environments. This role focuses on optimizing coding processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting system implementation, upgrades, and enhancements related to clinical coding, abstracting, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze, design, and optimize HIM and coding workflows within Oracle Health (Cerner) systems
Configure and support Cerner HIM modules (e.g., Coding, Abstracting, Deficiency Management, Chart Tracking)
Collaborate with clinical, revenue cycle, and IT stakeholders to ensure accurate coding and documentation processes
Support ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding compliance and best practices
Assist with system implementation, upgrades, testing (unit, integrated, and user acceptance), and go-live support
Identify gaps in workflows and recommend process improvements to enhance coding accuracy and productivity
Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and standard operating procedures
Provide end-user training and ongoing support for HIM and coding staff
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, HIPAA)
Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with Oracle Health support as needed
Support reporting and analytics related to coding quality, productivity, and denial management
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in health information management, Health Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3–7+ years of HIM/coding experience in a healthcare setting
Hands-on experience with Oracle Health (Cerner Millennium) HIM modules
Strong knowledge of medical coding systems (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS)
Familiarity with healthcare regulatory and compliance standards
Experience with system implementation, optimization, or consulting engagements
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC certification
Cerner/Oracle Health certification in HIM or Revenue Cycle modules
Experience with revenue cycle processes and coding audits
Knowledge of clinical documentation improvement (CDI) workflows
Experience working in a consulting environment

Hourly range: $50-$65. The hourly range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
