Job Description

Regional West Health Services is seeking a dedicated and professional Security Officer to help ensure the safety and security of our patients, staff, visitors, and facilities. In this role, you will respond to emergencies, monitor hospital grounds, and provide essential support in maintaining a safe healthcare environment.

This position is ideal for individuals who are calm under pressure, committed to service, and ready to make a meaningful impact every day.

A Day in the Life of a Security Officer

Your day begins with a walkthrough of your assigned areas, conducting routine interior and exterior patrols to ensure the hospital environment is safe and secure. As you move through the facility, you stay alert—observing for anything unusual, addressing potential safety concerns, and making your presence known to staff and visitors.

Throughout your shift, you respond quickly to calls for assistance. Whether it’s a patient situation, a fire alarm, or a larger emergency, you assess the situation calmly and take appropriate action. No two calls are the same, and your ability to remain composed and think clearly is critical.

You’re often the first point of contact during security incidents. When situations arise, you investigate thoroughly, gather facts, and document everything accurately. From minor concerns to more serious events, your attention to detail ensures proper follow-up and accountability.

You also play a key role in maintaining order across campus—assisting with traffic control, supporting access points, and helping enforce facility policies in a fair and respectful manner. When needed, you coordinate with local law enforcement to ensure appropriate response and support.

In addition, you help manage secure access throughout the facility, assisting staff with badge access and ensuring only authorized individuals are in designated areas.

A large part of your day centers around people. You interact with patients, visitors, and employees, offering direction, support, and reassurance. Whether helping someone find their way or stepping into a tense situation, you deliver excellent customer service while maintaining professionalism.

When conflicts arise, you rely on your training to de-escalate situations and promote a safe, respectful environment. Your presence helps create a sense of calm and security for everyone in the hospital.

At the end of your shift, you leave knowing you’ve made a meaningful impact—protecting others, supporting your team, and helping ensure a safe place for care.
