Position Overview
Peraton is seeking a highly skilled and mission-focused Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to support secure enterprise communications systems for a federal government customer. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in secure voice, video teleconferencing (VTC), VoSIP, H.323/SIP architectures, and classified communications environments supporting national security missions.
This role is responsible for the architecture, engineering, implementation, operations, and sustainment of secure and non-secure unified communications systems across geographically dispersed locations. The candidate will support executive leadership communications, SCIF deployments, continuity of operations (COOP) requirements, and Intelligence Community interoperability initiatives.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cybersecurity, TEMPEST, TAPS, facilities, and Intelligence Community working groups to ensure communications systems meet all operational, technical, and security compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support enterprise Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) environments deployed across multiple geographically dispersed sites and VMware ESXi infrastructures.
- Lead architecture, modernization, and lifecycle planning efforts for next-generation UC and secure communications platforms.
- Engineer, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot secure H.323 and SIP-based voice and VTC infrastructures supporting classified and unclassified operations.
- Design and implement secure audio-visual and communications systems in accordance with ICD/ICS 705, CNSSI 5000 series requirements, and federal secure communications standards.
- Support TS/SCI communications capabilities for senior government leadership and mission-critical operations.
- Coordinate with Technical Security (TAPS), TEMPEST, cybersecurity, and facilities teams to ensure all communications systems meet accreditation and security compliance requirements before deployment into SCIF environments.
- Apply DISA STIGs and federal cybersecurity requirements to UC, VoSIP, VTC, and AV systems.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and Help Desk support workflows incorporating security controls and operational best practices.
- Manage and coordinate communications technicians supporting secure and non-secure conferencing operations and executive meeting support.
- Support secure video wall systems, watch floor communications infrastructure, and mission operations centers.
- Participate in Intelligence Community and federal interagency working groups related to secure communications interoperability and emerging technologies.
- Support Continuity of Operations (COOP) telecommunications planning, testing, and sustainment activities.
- Design, implement, and maintain CATV and multimedia distribution systems within secure government environments.
- Provide Tier III engineering support, escalation support, and on-call operational support as required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
- Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D., 16 years with a HS Diploma
- 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise unified communications systems in federal or classified environments.
- Experience administering and engineering Cisco UC technologies, including:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
- Cisco IM&P
- Unity Connection
- Expressway
- SIP/H.323 gateways
- Experience supporting secure VoSIP and Secure VTC (SVTC) environments.
- Strong understanding of VMware ESXi virtualization environments.
- Experience designing and deploying communications systems within SCIF environments.
- Knowledge of:
- ICD/ICS 705
- CNSSI 5000/5001/5002
- NTSWG requirements
- DISA STIG implementation
- TEMPEST and TAPS processes
- Experience supporting executive-level communications and mission-critical operations.
- Ability to develop technical documentation, diagrams, SOPs, and engineering implementation plans.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Active TS/SCI or Q/SCI clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco certifications (CCNP Collaboration, CCIE Collaboration, or equivalent).
- Experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE), Intelligence Community (IC), DoD, or other national security customers.
- Experience with secure AV/video wall systems and integrated command center technologies.
- Familiarity with classified network architectures and cross-domain communications environments.
- Experience participating in IC interoperability working groups and secure communications governance forums.
- Knowledge of CATV/QAM distribution systems.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent operational support framework experience.
