Board Certified Behavioral Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our Heartshare Education Center (Ages 5-22) team. The BCBA will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring individualized behavior intervention plans for learners with developmental delays and/or disabilities. The role involves collaborating with educators, families, and related service providers to foster a supportive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. 

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of Position:

Behavioral Assessment and Planning

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) for students exhibiting challenging behaviors.

  • Develop and implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) based on assessment data.

  • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure effectiveness.

Collaboration and Consultation

  • Work closely with teachers, teacher assistants, aides, related service providers, and administrators to integrate behavior strategies into classroom routines.

  • Provide ongoing training and support to staff in implementing behavior plans and interventions.

  • Partner with families and provide parent counseling and training in a group family engagement session offered at minimum 1x month.

Intervention and Monitoring

  • Utilize evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to address social, emotional, and behavioral goals.

  • Collect and analyze data to track student progress and inform decision-making.

  • Prepare detailed reports on student progress and outcomes for Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. 

  • Provide counseling to students as mandated by their IEP. 

Professional Development and Compliance

  • Stay informed of best practices and regulatory requirements in ABA and special education.

  • Ensure all interventions and documentation comply with state and federal regulations under NYSED and Heartshare guidelines.

  • Participate in regular staff meetings, professional development sessions, and parent workshops as needed.

Classroom Assistance

  • Assist teaching staff with modifications of the physical classroom environment to better serve their students

  • Provide hands on support to classroom staff on behavior and classroom management

  • Provide large group and 1:1 hand on training to classroom staff on specific assessments, NET, data collection and other ABA procedures

  • Participate in the development of ABA programs for all students in classrooms and conduct monthly program reviews to ensure integrity and follow through and to make recommendations as needed

  • Respond to code whites (emergency behavior intervention) and immediately coach staff through behavioral crises. Provide follow up services as needed

  • Classroom coverage as needed

  • Attend IEP annual review meetings, parent/teacher meetings and team meetings as required

  • Collect and analyze data related to student behaviors, including frequency, duration, and intensity.

  • Observe and document the student behaviors in various settings and contexts.

  • Work with students both one-on-one and in group settings to practice new skills and reinforce appropriate behavior.

  • Use behavior management techniques to de-escalate situations when clients exhibit challenging behaviors.

  • Provide physical, emotional, and social support during interventions as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk and hear.

  • Walk to and from various locations in the building.

  • May need to stoop, bend, and sometimes lift or push wheelchairs of children being served.

  • Physical intervention techniques may be required to aid the children in challenging moments.

  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision and ability to focus.

Occasionally travel between sites.

Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 3:30PM- 12 months (SCHOOL CALENDAR)

  • Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field required.

  • Current BCBA certification and/or New York State licensure (LBA) required.

  • Experience working with school aged children with developmental delays and/or disabilities, particularly within an special education setting.

  • Strong knowledge of ABA principles and childhood development.
